Unrestricted Free Agents Worth Signing this Off Season
2/24/2010
Just to note, these players are all UNRESTRICTED free agents. They will not command something in return for signing with their new teams unlike the RESTRICTED free agents.
NFL free agency is a time of year for fans to speculate how their team is going to sign that one player that that will give them that extra push to make a run for a championship. The teams that can weed out all the contract players are usually the clubs that you see at the top of the standings year in and year out. Here's the most notable free agents that can make a significant impact for whatever team they sign with. Also, check out my free agents not worth signing.

Chad Pennington, QB- Chad Pennington has shown that when healthy, he can move the chains by throwing those 5-7 yard slant and out routes. He can be another legitimate stop gap at quarterback for a team that drafts a signal caller come this April. At 34, he can still give you a minimum of two years.

Kevin Faulk, 3DRB- Even though he is 34, Kevin Faulk can still be productive for any team in need of a third down back. He understands route running and is a leader in the locker room.
Tony Richardson, FB- Tony Richardson is old enough to be the dad of some of the linebackers that he plowed over to make room for Shonn Green and Thomas Jones last year, but even at 38, he is still a premiere player. Richardson is mr. consistency and hasn't showed a significant drop in play since he turned 35.
Antonio Bryant, WR- I know, I know. He doesn't have the best attitude in the world, but, he has a great deal of talent. Terrell Owens went to the super bowl with Donovon Mcnabb and we all know how he is for the locker room. If you put him in the right organization ( Patriots, Ravens), he will keep his mouth shut.

Terrell Owens, WR-. No one got their popcorn out for T.O. last year, but he is still a physical specimen that can stretch the field on any defense. Just give him a quarterback with a decent down field arm, and he'll hall in 8 touchdowns At least. Everyone knows about his attitude problems, but he went to the Superbowl. If you put him in the right situation, he will excel.
Bobbie Williams, G- Cedric Benson needs to send this guy a freakin thank you card. He was a big reason the Bengals exceeded expectations this year. At 34, he has three good seasons left.
Rob Sims, G- Rob Sims is one of the up and coming guards in the league at age 26, and could be an all pro in the right organization.
Aaron Kampman, DE- Aaron Kampman could be the biggest bargain out of the entire free agent class. He will command a large contract, but not anywhere near what teams will pay for Julius Peppers. Kampman will give you a 110% every play and still has five productive years left in him. Green Bay is expected to let him him go since he doesn't fit their 3-4 scheme.

Kevin Walter, WR- Walter should never be confused with a number one receiver, but he is a more than capable number two. Put him across a burner at the other receiver position and he'll grab 60-70 balls consistently.
Karlos Dansby, LB- Dansby will attract lots of attention from all over the league, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He is still in the prime of his career and has many extra bonuses including versatility and leadership.

Aaron Kampman had 37 sacks from 2006-2008, including a 15.5 sack season in 2006.
